..never asked me to enter my full pin and password before, in addition to the randomly selected parts, but it did tonight.

I also went to the log in page from google to check and it asks me again.

I thought they never asked for your full pin or password?

That is a scam. Report it immediately (you got telephone banking) and DO NOT enter the info. IIRC they use the same system as the RBS who always state they would never ask you for this.

I don't think they do. I've just checked and it's only asking me for the three random characters as per normal. Sounds like you may have something funny going on.

What happens if you go to the Natwest homepage (www.natwest.co.uk, typed directly into the address bar rather than through google) and follow the on-line banking login from there?

Just went in via www.natwest.com and it just asked for the usual three of each.

The site just asked me for 2nd, 3rd and 4th items of my PIN and Password, even when page refreshed...wierd...

you could have a nasty virus which is intercepting the request to visit natwest.com and sending you to a spoof site instead. Definitely do a comprehensive virus/spyware scan!!

Apparently the website has a veri sign certificate but I can't remember if that is usually there!

I use NatWest i-banking and it always asks for certain didgits ofthe pin and certain characters of the password but never the whole things in full. Not sure if that's the same as with NatWest on-line banking.

well, after the pin/password entries you'll need a secure key to move any funds out of your accounts, so it's very safe and an industry standard. Without the secure key you can only move funds within your own accounts, so that doesn't really matter.

If it is still asking for the full pin / pass just report it to fraud.

If you read the post, it is not asking for the full pin/password, which is correct - just certain characters/numbers.

Have you tried they free online security card/machine system?

And for balance and mini statement I recommend their mobile phone system - It is brilliant!
