Late Christmas eve I caught the staff at our local Next removing all the shirts from their dispalys, so they could refil it with cheap 'tat' at a bargain 'sale' price.
So if your missus cant stay away from the shops tomorrow and brings you home a shirt from Next (or one of many other retailers I suspect) you can point out to her that she fell for just another retail scam and that she's got a 'bargain' shirt that wasnt even for sale before Christmas eve.
Shameful if you ask me.

Do you really expect them to trot out their pre-christmas sale stuff at even more money off?
Of course they're gonna have cheap post-christmas new tat at silly cheap prices - 99.9% of people look at the item and "if it's got 50% off it must have been good cos it was worth £100 and now it's only costing £50 now!"
If there wasn't such a call for "bargain" this and "discount" that, then you'd start seeing proper sale reductions, just not at headline-grabbing "50% off!!!!" rates - a true discount would probably be about 5% or so, but that's just not good enough for the majority of UK shoppers.

Uhhh, they (and every other retailer with a(n in)famous post-Xmas sale) has/have done this since the year dot. I vaguely remember my mrs telling me at half 5 this morning she was off to next, when i got up at 8 she was sat in the living room with 4 big bags full of stuff for all of us, i told her about this thread and she said everything she had bought was online 3 days ago at the "was" price so she is confident she got some bargains....she only spent £110 and theres a fair amount of clothes.thought the sale didn't start til tomorrow though?, I know mum was trying to get the website to work - but said it starts saturday

So maybe the clothes are worth £50, marked up as £100 next to a pile of "bargain" £50 clothes - so before christmas you felt you got a bargain. Now after christmas they can now slash the £100 clothes back down to £50 and its a new bargain.
My mum has all the catalogues, she was sent a list of all the sale stuff - which is taken from the catalogue.
They probably have extra stock they put out for the sales, but the majority of the stuff is from the catalogues. Everything is at least 1/2 price too.
There are some pretty good bargains, even if the sizes left are ridicilous !
