We've never had a freezer at home, just never got round to having one.
The thought of freezing milk and bread makes me want to yak and am quite spontanious so I couldn't cope with leaving something out to defrost before work.
It also stops me eating crap to a degree.
Lately though I'm getting pissed off with throwing food away after it goes uneaten, and I love frozen peas and ice cream as well (not at the same time obviously!!)
So I've decided to get one.
Where does one start? I dont want one of these huge efforts! I'm just about to throw away some stir fry veggies (again...sigh !) are these sort of thing freezable? would I have to leave it out to defrost or could I just chuck it in the wok frozen? the same with strips of chicken breast would I have to leave them out before cooking.... It's all new to me!

My freezer is used for half a pig and half a sheep.

Wouldn't manage without it really

Hmm, we have three... Perhaps a bit greedy, but one is purely for animal food.

I couldn't cope without a freezer. Most things are freezable, I'm Indian hence we tend to make a lot of curry type dishes. My mum often freezes leftovers and most of them keep quite well, so I'd imagine that stir fry would be ok.

We will either lump the frozen chunk straight into a pan or defrost in the microwave under the low power defrost setting.

Raw stir fry vegetables can be frozen and then cooked from frozen but frozen raw chicken would need to be defrosted before cooked.

i've managed 6 months without a freezer (my Miele needed a service and didn't get round to doing it!) - it's not really necessary unless you have family, or can't manage a trip to the supermarket every few days or so. got it back again, and my bad habits have also returns i.e. tubs of ice-cream and those tasty pizzas from M&S ..

Being single and unemployed, I tend to batch cook larger quantities of curry/chili/bolognese et cetera and freeze them. Helps keep costs down.
I am also addicted to frozen sweetcorn.

Just had a look in our freezer ... its sum total of contents as follows ... .

2 x bottles Absolute Vodka
4 ice trays + lots of ice in a box
3 Dr Otker's Pizza's
several bags frozen herbs
ben & jerries ice cream (pish food)

TBH its essential if for nothing else then for the ice making!

We've only had a freeer for 6 months, it currently has ice cream, fish fingers and peas in it.

We coped for 7 years without one, I suspect we could do it again.
