I have never understood post christmas sales or the people that line up for hours on end and then wade through the unwashed to buy something not that much cheaper than you could get it online or in any other sale through the year.

Breakfast and a snooze done, the tally comes up at 27 items (all for bump) for £123.. Should have cost us in excess of £270...

I think that's actually a relatively good saving, even when taking into account the early start..

In a normal economic climate, gearing up for having a child is bad enough, however, in tough times (and with my wife unsure whether she'll have a job in the new year) it seems totally sensible to me to have done this.. I say that now, having got in there in the first 40-50 people and been out of the shop by 0525.. The people at the back of the 1/4 mile queue were the crazy people..

You may note I posted it at exactly the same time as the totals were posted, hence the question.

Next one is - was it stuff that was really needed, or stuff that was bought 'because it was in the sale'.... and how much did they mark it up by in order to put it in the sale.

My years of experience in retail tells me not to bother with any of the post Christmas sales - the biggest savings are 'faked' with disclaimers and most stuff is no cheaper than it would be in any other so-called 'sale' promotion.

Certainly wouldn't drag myself out to a shopping centre to queue outside a shop for bargains, anyway.
