I'm hoping we have some experts on here (Balmoral Green Perhaps)
My parents back in the early 90's had a victorian brazilian mahogany conservatory built. The workmanship was superb and it still looks brand new today.
Howver they have discovered a leak around the polycarb panels which now potentially means that they need to replace the entire conservatory, as the amount of people able to do wood is now minimial with everyone only being in the UPVC business.
They can get a UPVC Woodgrain roof put on, but the reason that allegedly an entire new conservatory might be needed is that 2 of the double glazed windows are misting up and if they are replaced the mahogany trims and frames may become damaged.
Does this sound right?
Does anyone know of anyone in Yorkshire who could carry out repairs to a high standard but without costing the earth. They had someone quote £10,000 for a new hardwood roof (£1,500 of that was to remove the old roof).

i would look if any of the poly sheets have moved/slipped down towards the guttering,therefore moving off any seals.this is normally the case when a conservatory roof starts to leak assuming the leak is towards the higher part of the roof,it is very easily remedied!!
also i cant see any reason why a couple of failed unit would stop you changing the roof only,sounds to me like somebodys talking out of there behind.

a little bit of advise,dont have polycarb if you do change the roof, have some fancy self cleaning glass the difference would be amazing,loads cooler in summer and it doesnt sound like you being attacked when it pours down!and a lot warmer in winter.I speakfrom experience as i have been building the things for nearly 20 years

I've use these in the past, done quite a bit of work for various family members and were all really impressed, no pushy sales people, very knowledgable, hard-working and high quality.The £10k was for a hardwood (not brazillian mahogany) roof.
