Where is gold (bracelets not bullion) cheap?

Where is the best place to look/go for a decent solid gold bracelet? It won't be a huge amount of gold as it's for my mum and not a chav. Where will I find one at a reasonable price? Most of the high street ones seem to be that awful hollow stuff.

Re Gold Braclets, The cost/value of 24 carat "pure gold" is a quoted commodity. In many parts of te world 24 carat jewellry can be bought by weight plus a manufacturing cost. In many parts of Asia owning jewellry is prefered to money in the bank, a typical jewelry shop will have a displayed price to buy and sell gold, the jewellry is displayed in weight trays and the bracelet will be weighed and then a very small manufacturing cost ( typically less than £5.00) added to the material value. I bought a braclet 3 years ago and sold it this year for more money ( it was weighed when I bought it and weighed when I sold it) many asian jewellry shops in the UK work on the same principle, rip off Ratners/Goldsmiths do not as it limits the markup opportunities. Remember gold was valued in part because it was possible to work into complex designs relativly easily, ie manufaturing costs are low. 24 carat gold can be coloured to taste( we have become conditioned to our 18 carat alloy and find 24 carat gold suspicious lol. Buy by weight + manuacturing costs....

Qatar/Dubai, gold chains and decorative stuff is bought by weight, at the price of gold on the market plus a small percentage for the workmanship, but you can usually barter a little off as well.

Jewellery yes, but if you buy gold you're paying through the nose for cheap tat. The only stuff you see in the UK is 18c at most, and usually less, and going buy weight you pay ten times what it is worth.

If you want gold jewellery, as in some sort of known investment value, you need to go to one of the countries mentioned above.
