TV adverts - Why I ask you????
Discussion
I remember this was reported a while ago, but at the time couldn't say that I had actually noticed, but recently yes the adverts have become so much louder to the point where I am having to adjust the volume during the adverts and then back again during the programme. Its really doesn't endear you to wanting to buy from the advertisers.

Am so glad it's not just me!!I am considering inventing a gadget that mutes the ads when they come on so I don't have to!

I'm pretty sure that its illegal for the advert volume to be louder that the adjacent programme. Report them to OFCOM!
The adverts aren't 'louder' in the sense that they're peaking higher than the programme - its that they're heavily compressed to use a smaller dynamic range, hence they 'sound' louder.None of the commercial broadcasters want to do anything about it. I don't blame them - you don't bite the hand that feeds you, and technical standards on all channels have dropped significantly over the years.
