Personally I don't see it as having any influence on whether I'd buy something or not.
Stating the obvious here I know, but keep in mind prices only ended in .99p because of the supposed psychological impact, not because the 17.5% VAT rate made it that way and it seems fairly obvious that they'll continue to price that way.

If you walk into even a modest sized store, let alone John Lewis or a PC World it doesn't take a genius to work out that unless you're selling high cost items the cost to print and re-ticket every single item is most likely more than any short term sales increase.
I mean seriously, can anyone here say they have purchased anything of significant value solely because of the VAT reduction?

Yes, I had noticed. Claiming they had knocked £75 off to say £274, and claiming the original price was £349 when in fact the first few quid was the VAT reduction.Must think we are stupid. Oh, we are.So much for the vat reduction then
