bank details security question?

Ok ph, im having an operation on my knee at a private hospital (through the nhs) on january the 12th.
About a week ago i had a pack come through the post off the private hospital, the usual stuff asking about any medications im taking and so on.
Also in the pack was a sheet of paper which asked me to fill in all my bank detials, branch, sort code and account number, basically everything apart from my pin number!
So i rang up to question why they needed this, the girl on the phone said it is in case a visitor comes in to see me, they have any food or drinks etc they bill my card for it straight away.
Now, i've been mulling this over, im not happy at all about giving this information. I dont want to refuse as she said she needs that information with the pack to help complete the whole operation/outpatient process.
So, should i devilver the pack in person to reduce the risk of it getting lost in the post, but even if i do this, im still worried a rogue employee could easily wipe my account out? The only other thing i have though of doing is putting a few wrong digits in the account number?
The pack needs to be completed and with them by friday 2nd january
Im pretty low on idea's, so can anyone help me out? has anyone on here been through the same process recently?

Out of interest, how much are they planning on charging to provide a cup of tea?
I would be tempted to tell them to bugger off, or send them a check for a few hundred quid and tell them to deduct any costs from that and let you know if you are going over.
