Downloaded my first album from Amazon today, and whilst quality is top dog the download speed is nothing short of dire

Anyone else tried it?

Tried it yesterday for 1st time - £3 for the killers, can't argue with that - and it was fairly fast, downloaded in about 2 mins or so.

Bought the new Kings of Leon album for £3 on the day the Amazon MP3 service started.

Found it very good speed-wise. I like the way it puts your MP3 straight into your iTunes library without you having to do anything.

My DL speeds are normally pretty quick on most things so dont understand the issue with this

Check out the audio rate. it's only 32.

No, Amazon MP3's are encoded at 256kbps.

I did their xmas/boxing day promotion of £3 off, so i got the new Killers album for free. If i was going to pay for songs, its cheaper and better quality than iTunes, nearly as easy as well, hopefully iTunes will drop its prices in response to this (i think Play.com's downloads are cheaper as well) but i doubt it.

I tried it on boxing day with their £3 for free offer. It was really quick and you don't get any of the DRM you get on other sites. I'd use them again. Although I usually prefer to buy Cd's.

Because these MP3's dont have DRM. so we can put on any MP3 player, has anyone tried burning to disc.?

Not yet. Just downloaded an album though, and it took less than 60 secs, so no gripes from me.

I downloaded a few tracks on boxing day and found the speeds to be pretty good. I've also burnt the tracks to CD without any problems at all. The absence of any DRM restrictions certainly makes them a favourite for me.

Yes, and it worked perfectly. No problems at all. (I'm starting to sound like an ad for Amazon!)

I tried to use the free £3 offer on Boxing Day & was told the offer had expired, guess too many people took them up on the offer

Did download a 4 songs yesterday & it worked fine though.

When did you try it? I did it mid afternoon, they had changed the offer from entering a code in the checkout to paying for it and then gettting a refund later on.

I thought I had done it on boxing day but looking at the email it appears to have been very late on christmas day. I appear to have my usual christmas holiday problem of all the days blending together!
