Just seen him on Celebrity Mastermind.

He really doesn't look (or sound) well.

My guess would be that he's had a stroke - but can't find anything to confirm this.

Does anyone know?

Smith ended up seriously ill in hospital in 1999 after consuming more than 50 Nurofen tablets, the culmination of a growing addiction to the pills. He said at the time that the pressures of film work were a contributing factor, along with a desperate need to ease the pain caused by gout. Partly as a result, he agreed to sell Talkback, but Smith admitted to restlessness: "I said to my wife that I needed to do something to get me out of the house".

That was way back in 1999, though.

He's been on TV since and not looked or sounded anywhere near as bad as he does tonight.

Heh, that's the first place I looked.

But there's no recent illness which could have caused his condition tonight.

Perhaps he's just got a heavy cold.

More than that though, isn't it?

Has he had some kind of oral cancer? Snoring surgery gone wrong?

You're quoting an unreferenced paragraph in Wikipedia. Therefore, untrustworthy.
