Given That your profile says you are in Sheffield I can certainly say that Moorgate Acoustics would be worth Visiting. They do a range of kit from "basic" AV to High end stereo and I have always found them very good to deal with.

I can recommend Laskys. I got a very good deal on a Panasonic plasma from them.

Already got an Xbox 360, don't need or want another games console, and the other issue of one being £150 quid the other £300.

Laskeys is an online brand owned by Comet. Good on them for bringing back a name from the past.

Richer Sounds.

When buying a load of kit (albeit 2 years ago) they knocked £700 off a trolley worth £2500.

They were very helpful biglaugh

I second Richer Sounds. Recent experiences mean I will never buy from anyone else again if I can possibly help it. Fabulous service from a company that actually cares.

If you haven't already spoken to Plotloss... speak to him first (first responder to your post)

He has his own company and knows just what he's doing.

Apart from trusting the people that know on here, (Plotters Derestrictor and one or two others) as I do. The one bit of common sense posted so far was a few posts ago - whatever you got MAKE sure you calibrate your screen properly - turn OFF all the fancy bits like 'dynamic', 'cinema' etc. sort out the white balance and blacks then twiddle with the colour and leave it.

ETA: google LCD/Plasma screen calibration or look in AV Forums - get some "test patterns" and most of you will be amazed at how good your TV really is.
