Skiers v Borders - why the politics?
Discussion
I'm new to this winter sports thing (2 holidays as a snowborder) but I’m struggling to get my head around the whole skiers v borders thing.
I've just got back from 10 days in in Val over Xmas & New Year and whilst I was there I went into a restaurant with the Mrs for a bite to eat. As we are sitting down, 1 couple to the right of us say “oh, they’re from our hotel, they’re borders” (not said in a good way!)
Then the table on the left say very loudly, “everyone in the resort is complaining about the same thing, borders just getting too close and making a real noise as they come down the mountain”
OK, maybe it’s because skiers are jealous that they can only do it the old fashioned way – I don’t know, but please help me out here, can’t we live in peace and harmony (and fresh powder)?????!!!

Gheys on trays.
Good contribution.
From what I can gather it is a class thing. They seem to think that skiers/boarders must conform to the following stereotype.
Skiers:
Name - Woopert/Henry/Henrietta
School - Eton/Windsor/Most other public schools
Occupation - Millionaire/Millionairess/
Boarders:
Name - Wayne/Waynetta
School - N/A
Occupation - Criminal

It might be something to do with the fact that "Boarding Dude, 101" begins with a lesson on how to sit in the middle of the piste, looking tired, and saying "Dude" repeatedly!
Dude!I personally don't care what you strap yourself to when on holiday. As long as you have fun.
Remember grasshopper, not speed, smile.
A wonderful lack of understanding
boarder = cant come straight down the mountain, constantly has to turn. punting on roads is a pain
skier = bimbles in line abreast formation on narrow runs and roads meaning boarders then have to punt and / or carve through tiny gaps at speed.
However most dont see this they just see 'a boarder came flying past me way too close' without mentioning the 'because i didnt give them any other option' part

I have no idea why the hate and attitude is there. Some of the worst things I've seen has come from skiers. And they're more than happy to scratch my board with their poles
