I need to get a quote for someone, so can anyone recommend a courier/service to deliver a pair of floorstander speakers from Central London to Rome? Do Parcelforce offer a reliable European service? How much should I be looking to pay? £60-£70ish?

We sent a pair of Meridian speakers to Italy two years ago, although not to Rome. Being as a lot of freight goes missing and gets damaged, we used a DHL pallet service and the speakers were wrapped like mummies and properly crated onto a pallet. The cost was over just £200 IRC and they did arrive safely, which was handy because they were insurance valued at £12k. There is no way I would send anything decent via normal boxed couriers nono

Thanks SS HSV. Someone is offering to buy these speakers from me off another forum. Not sure between us we could lay down £200 for speakers worth about £5-600 though. Mind you how much of that cost was insurance?

It aint going to be worth the hassle of selling them to someone abroad. By the time you have packed them safe enough to travel, they will probably weigh double what they normally weigh therefore a hefty courier charge, and the possibility of the buyer claiming they either havn't arrived or arrived damaged. Although this could happen here if posted, try collection only or deliver youself for a reasonable fee. Good Lucktongue out

PS I don't mean deliver yourself to Rome!

Think you may be right Tony! I'll put the ball back in his court and see if he is willing to arrange his own courier/collection.
