Please donate as much cash as you can to save the planet. Take a look at the link below (it's a legitimate link from the PH home page) and you will be taken to a secure site where you can choose how much you want to send to companies in the US. This is what does my head in - everything is carbon, we've forgotten everything else - for instance, all this turn to 15 degrees on your washing machine and use this special liquid. How powerful does that liquid have to be to work in cold water? How much damage will that do? We don't care as we only bow down to the god of Carbon now.
We've just been outbid on a small local woodland that we had valued at £200k by Leyland DAF, yes the same Leyland DAF that are laying people up as they are so short on production.
Sealed bids, we went in at £205k for 6 acres of protected woodland, they went in at £577k because they can use it to offset their carbon emissions.
The woodland is already there and not going anywhere so how does that offset their carbon? Buying a field and planting trees maybe - what a load of horses
t!

You deride both DAF and the process itself, yet were willing to stump up £205k yourself to take part?Scam didley scam scam.
Well, actually, a legitimate business wrapped up in an Environmental package to appeal to the apologising middle-classes who 'want to do their bit'.
If you want to save the planet, do something sensible - don't pay someone else to do it for you! I am no environmentalist nutter, but even I can see the sense in cutting your gas or electricity usage, rather than shoving £200 to some nice bloke in a Barber jacket who 'says' he will invest it in ethically-sound forests or something.
I met an environmental consultant once - hateful man. Spouted the party line like some die hard socialist. Almost believable until he jumped into his new Volvo T5 estate, explaining he was off skiing with his family that winter, having just got back from a holiday in Asia.... practice what you preach......

£200k seems a lot for 6 acres of non-developable land.

No-one's asked for my paypal address yet
Maybe you haven't emitted any carbon yet

I wonder if the rumours about Gore are true? That he deliberately bought into 'dirty' companies that would be able to claim these carbon reducing payments.
Hi, wasn't looking to offset anything, the woodland basically surrounds our land in a horseshoe shape and if we owned it we would be development proof, which we reckoned was worth £200k.
Could have done a bit of shooting, built a tree house for the kids, just generally enjoyed owning a bit of woodland that was all.

I am all for recycling and trying to look after this planet of ours, but sometimes things go too far on the band wagon. To help offset my planet killer of a car I try to keep my garden as natural as possible, with as much wild vegetation as possible. During the winter months I am propergating 54 chilli plants to cultivate during the summer months. I am sure the gases they will generate will help contribute to the green house effect

I do this with BP, but only as a piss take to get the sticker for the Bentley that says 'This car is carbon neutral', even a Prius owner can't claim that, unless he offsets his 106 grammes
