Bathroom disaster

Started with the desire to have a nice bath. ran the water but had only run cold, so had to let it out. It wouldn't drain which I assumed was because all the cold water had solidified the usual soap slurry in the u-bend. Giot a plunger, no luck. Drained the bath with a jug, added caustic soda and hot water: no luck. Unscrewed the u bend, clean as a whistle so blockage must be further along (behind the tiling). Then the unbend wouldn't reseal and the bit where the waste joins the bath started to leak. Escaping water is coming through the litchen ceiling. All the time I am naked waiting for my bath. Now I can't reseal it all as it needs PTFE tape and jointing compound from the garage, with the car parked in front with its snow cap on.
Who needs a bath anyway? Do it tomotrrow, although exactly where the blockage is remains a mystery.

I'm assuming while you're typing this the leak is meanwhile flooding the neighbours house, the cat will be doing a whoopsie in your favourite beret, and later you'll have to explain the whole thing to Betty?Who needs a bath anyway? Having got the stuff to reseal the u bend etc I thought I would first put a large bottle of Mistermuscle drain unblocker down but failed to rememeber to tighten the U-bend first. Result was a litre of gloopy bleachy stuff on the bathroom floor under the bath. The entire house smells of bleach. Then I overtightened and split the plastic thread below the plug hole.
On top of that the pipe is still blocked.
Proper plumber coming out today.

It was long hair (OH) and the soap scum from all those lotions and potions. Cost me £69 for the plumber including a new bath waste which I had perforated with a coat hanger.
Think I might invest in one of these, or else make the OH get a crew cut.
