Is it me, or does Ali come accross as a complete tosser? Completely racist, a coward, and a backstabber all in 1 - or is it just the filmmaker making him look bad?

Its well documented that he certainly went through a stage of being a complete tt.

That 1974 Parkinson interview is an eye opener and quite probably the only time I've ever seen Parky lost for words.

It takes some coward to play rope-a-dope with somebody like Foreman punching the st out of you.

Slightly O/T but there's a great Tyson documentary on Sky anytime at the moment.

I know that was tongue in cheek, but foreman didn't land too many shots on him. Bloody good fight though, I watched it a few nights ago for about the 20th time. biggrin

Anyway, yes he comes across as a tosser and for that moment in time he was a tosser but there is such a thing as two way traffic and for once Smokin' Joe received a positive spin on events instead of the one sided media campaign Ali had at the time of the fight.

I watched this the other day, and agree with you. Frazier came across as an extremely bitter man too.

If a black guy calls another black guy a gorilla, is that racist? And anyway, gorillas are perfectly nice animals. If you call your girlfrind 'hamster' is that racist?

(Mind you he did look remarkably like a gorilla)
