DSG GROUP

So not to sure if anyone else has been picking this up but I am quite a regular reader of moneysavingexpert forums and I have seen a lot of content floating around on their about how DSG group will FAIL in the next month or two.


DSG I believe is made up of Dixons, Currys and PC WORLD.

I am led to believe that PC worls is the only one keeping the group afloat at present.

Does anyone else have any more information on this?

I'm guessing pixmania will also fall into this group, since most of their stock is delivered via a Curry/Dixons van?

What is the deal with these guys, I have heard they do have good prices, but their delivery times and customer service is really bad!

I found them great. Bought a freezer, great price. Arrived in a Currys van within 48hrs.

Pixmania are part of DSGi as well.

Is it just me, or is this a bit of a repeat of the HBOS experience? Rumour has it that they're about to fail, so people start running away from them, and before you know it - hey, gone. Are the papers reporting that DSGi are in trouble? I hope not, otherwise they'll be finished by the end of the week for sure...

Pixmania are part of DSGi as well.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you hear about a company in trouble you are hardly likely to order a £1k laptop online. Also, there are others who wait for the closing down sales in the hope of getting a bargain.

The City doesn't think DSG are about to fail.

I'd suspect the market might know a nlot more than some rumours on a forum.

They are great until you have a problem; they operate out of Europe and are outside of UK consumer protection. They sent me a video camera which I paid for up front. When it arrived it was a different model and didn't have bullet cam functionality. I sent it straight back asking for them to sends out the correct camera. After a couple of months I gave up and purchased my camera from ebuyer. 5 months later and only after I started proceedings did pixmania agree to refund me.

Kind of depends on the rumours. I remember reading about the smoke from that tyre fire on pistonheads well before the markets reacted...

This is the kind of thing I have seen lots about, always proving problematic when returning items and no contact being made.

...and I bought a £1500 Vaio from them. Six weeks later it developed a fault so I contacted them.

One in stock and it was delivered, installed. Demo'd and the old one taken away within 24hrs.

Nothing but praise for them from here. Funny old world isn't it.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, most people think they are going under pretty soon, but there is a lot of work going on to see if things can be resolved before mass hysteria takes over and the Daily Mail publishes something!
