With all this fuss about 2nd hand and now 3rd hand smoke, I feel that I'm spending a premium JUST to have it first hand.

Does anyone else feel the same?

Being a smoker my self, I make a point of TRYING NOT to smoke near none smokers, If I do not know a person and im outside the pub have a fag I will ask if they mind if I smoke. I also DO NOT smoke in front of my mum and dad or my OH's M&D and I certainly do not smoke near my neices and nephew.

If I inadvertantly offend a person by smokeing I will find another place to smoke away from them.

However I would like to try and give up smoking but do not seem to have will power to do so and is difficult when the OH smokes aswell.

Mrs. Wacky paints a nice picture of today's courtesy smoker; skulking ashamed in a corner somewhere, backs against society trying to shield the cold and wind from their lighter as they try and spark up.

It's a funny image if you ask me hehe

It is a funny image biggrin, but smokers in all will go outside no matter what the weather, be it rain snow wind blizards gail for tornados you name it i bet you will see at least 2 or 3 stood out there all in a circle stood facing each other to shield from the condition.

Kids are an exception to the rule IMO. If I'm outside then I'll smoke where I like - especially in pub gardens and places like that.

Plus another one ...

Smoking doesn't quite fit in with the rest of my life - started whilst going through divorce, and now that I've got a 5 month old ... but I never, never smoke around the g/f, or the kids.

I'm trying to work towards doing a marathon, and I'm currently doing about 30-40km per week - kick the cigs, and that'd start getting a lot easier.

I think if your outside then fair enough the wind will take your harmfull air away from us all. And due to all the bans on smoking inside then thats about the only option available to all smokers.

I've just given up. It's easy peasey.

Apart from the first 3 or 4 days of sitting in the corner of a dark room, sweating, rocking back and forth whilst attempting to supress the voices in my head. Eating more. Shouting at various people... ect...

Other than that, it's fine.

Don't miss it...

at all..

I stopped 5 years ago, and started again in August. Had to stop again, I really had to, so stopped for January 1st.

Going ok so far and not missing it as much as I thought I would!

It won't last though, and tonight's band practice....

Iv not ever tried to stop but when I'm at the OH M&D's House if we're there all day from 11 to about 4-5 I'm at the point of ripping my hair out pulling the OH's head off and politely stting down his neck, Or on the VERY odd occassion i don't even think about it and im perfectly fine.

Having smoked for 25 years I thought I would never give up. Then last January two of my mates bet me what I spent on fags in a year that I couldn't.(roughly £2000)
Told them I would give up on April 1st,which I did,and now only have four months to go. Ain't missed the evil weed at all. Now you think my pals would be panicking but they're not.In fact one of said it would be the best grand he'd ever spent if I gave up. Now I have persuade my OH to give up.
