Hey folks,

Anyone got any advice for buying some good headphones to use in an iPod shuffle (the mini ones without the screen) at the gym?

So far I've just been using the iPod default headphones, but the quality is crap when turned up and most annoyingly, they fall out every 5 seconds.

Not sure what to get, other than not enormous shaggy-hifi style things.

Cheers

Skull Candy in ear ones. Range of bud sizes come with them so you get a good fit, theyre light weight and stay in your ears well.

The standard iPod headphones are nothing short of abysmal.

I've tot a pair of Sennheiser CX400's. They are miles better than the standard ipod ones, and don't fall out (they come with 3 different sized inserts depending on the size of your lug-holes)

I got these, £14 and they do the job. Anything is better than the standard ones and these block outside sound so you can get away with the volume being lower.

What will stay in your ears will vary depending on the shape of your ears and how much you sweat ....

I rarely had any luck with any earbud style phones, and have found that the Sennheiser MX500 with their fluffy covers stay in perfectly.

And I can't imagine a better music player for down the gym than a shuffle.

oh, i think these are the one's I got for Christmas for the gym. They replaced some similar ones and are excellent as they don't fall out when running!

I just recently got the cx500's for £25 and they are brilliant. They are so comfortable you will probably forget they are in your ears and they will also cancel out all the other noise(music) in the gym. I did have another similar pair of sennheisers also really good but stood on and broke one of the earpieces.

Bose for sound quality? Ewwww, horrible thought. I tried some of those a while back and they were the muddiest, lousy sounding headphones I've ever heard - couldn't believe they try to scam people with a £70 or so pricetag!

I got some seinheiser cx300's as they are cheap and well reccomended. I'm a little unsure as to how people aren't having issues with the in ear type. I find after a hard session running or on the x trainer the weight of the wire pulls the right one out of my ear a bit. The seal seems crytical to the sound so it doesnt take long to loose quality. I think the way to go would be some sort of clip if you hit it hard so the weight of the wire isnt an issue. That or I quite fancy giving the pmx70's a go as they have a band that will hold them on.

It depends what you're doing. These are great for things like running because they're held firmly in place, so don't fall out, and sound quality is excellent. However, if you do things like bench presses, the band that goes around the back of your neck tends to get in the way.

I like the idea of the pmx70s as well, but the colour schemes are lousy - either bright orange or green?

I'd prefer them in solid black. Tin of paint then ....

Had what appeared to be a perfect set of phones - Motorola S9s. Coupled to my mobile, meant I could take a call, do whatever, no interruptions.

Except that they break. Little bit of sweat in them, and bzzzt. They die. I had 3 pairs fail in the same way.

And the same happened to a pair of Jabra BT3030s.

You are putting the longer lead on the right hand 'phone around the back of your neck aren't you?
On the treadmill it can drop out from time to time but that's the only time for me.

I've just ordered these from Amazon to replace some Creative Aurvana that I seem to have lost

http://www.amazon.co.uk/XtremeMac-IPD-FSE-00-FSE-H...

I think they're actually the FS1 headphones and if they are, then they are an absolute steal at that price. The reviews say the bass is particularly good, which is ideal for the listening I do at the gym. I'll let you know what they're like when they arrive.
