I never thought they could be so interesting.
I've seen the adverts on tv over the xmas period for Sharps Bedrooms promising massive discounts on bedroom furniture so I had a 'representitive' from this establishment come around to my house to quote me for three sets floor-to-celing wardrobes plus a corner wardrobe.
£4000.
Yep, £4000 for seven doors hinged onto mdf and chipboard with some bendy shelves. Someone please tell why the f
k this arse of a company is still in business when they are trying to flog me wood for £4k? Isn' this credit crunch supposed to be rooting out the weak ones?
When I asked this the salesman to explain how he could possibly quote me such a high figure, especially when a local firm (known to be very good) quoted £1500, he claimed the products from Sharps is of exceptional quality. I swear this came from the mouth of a man dressed in a black suit two sizes too big for him, in big clomper shoes and a shirt far too big and a stained tie.
Let me also say I don't have a very impressive house and its in rag order inside. Neither did I answer the door in a smoking jacket so I don't know where he got his ideas from.
So, just in case you are looking to brighten up your life with new wardrobes and you have been tempted to ask Sharps, I hope I have saved you the trouble.

these companies historically (double glazing, kitchens etc) quote stupidly high, there's always 1 in 100 that will pay... so they chance it... then they haggle.... some are known to offer final products at silly prices at later dates trying to save the deal!
At uni I worked for a spray on protective wall coating company who would call customers back who had declined and offer up to 70-80% discounts from what the salesman had quoted them to begin with!
