Government Accountability - slight rant!

Ok,
With the current economic problems and a lot of the blame being put on the banks, there has been a lot of noise about making the banks accountable for their actions!! And so there should be!!
Now, in light of the recent release of Britains "Actual" debt ( 400% of GDV ), and past lies (weapons of mass destruction, MMGW, etc....) and promises made by the Government.... is it not time these Politicians were made accountable for their actions as well?
My question; how would this be brought about?
I'm getting sick and tired of being shafted by taxes, scarred of breathing for fear of breaking a ridiculous law/ piece of legislation, and the constant lies that the Government spews out (and we believe for the most part). They have us by the balls, and I don't see why we should all be taking it!
Why should the government get inheritanc tax!!!???
Why should working citizens pay for non-working citizens to live!!
Why are our brave troops being killed in Iraq & Afghnistan over a war that cannot be won, and shouldnt have been started in the first place!!
These are all questions which I beleive, we as citizens, deserve to know the answers to!!
I can't be the only one infuriated by how s
te this country has become in the last decade.
What could be done to try get the government back to actually representing the good of its people as opposed to controlling us, and scarring us into giving more of our money to the "Fat Cats" in charge?
We can't be helpless.....we must be able to do something!?
