recommend me some decent dvd's to watch

since nye i've enjoyed watching a film every night whilst getting through the christmas whisky. i'm running short on films i want to see again so am looking for ideas for what to go out and buy.

truly great films only, don't try and convince me legally blonde 2 has depth and subtlety!

to give you an idea, i watched 'layer cake' for the first time and thought it was great. 'inside man' was another first-time-watch that i would highly recommend.

low point was the film 'daylight robbery'. burn anyone who suggest you watch this!

i remember from the gangster film thread that 'miller's crossing' came recommended, but other than that i am short on ideas.

dangerous ground here. seen a few series of the shield and it starts getting expensive to watch the rest. deadwood is also good.

watched all 5 series of peep show over the weekend and am getting series 6 of family guy tonight so i have all 7. sad really!

I wouldn't recommend watching Requiem for a Dream if you're combining viewing with whiskey.

I rather enjoyed The Bank Job

Casino. Scorsese's best work in my opinion (even better than Goodfellas). Epic film at three hours long - you need to concentrate, but it's worth it. Still my favorite film ever.

Definately The Sheild (best drama ever) then The Sopranos and Band of Brothers

why does everyone find that film so uneasy? its one of my favourites. i know its fairly fked up, but the ex and my mate's were really unsettled to watch it
