Anyone been to Bermuda??

It is much, much more pretty than any other "Carribean" island I've been to.
Its expensive - London Prices for eating out and WAY more expensive than the UK for groceries.
It will be cool (about 70F during the day, 60F at night) in Spring. Sea Temp will be high 60's (too bloody cold for me
)
If you're in the US - then a 2 and a bit hour plane ride here, so not too bad. It should be pretty quiet here at that time of year as I don't think the cruise ships will have started their season then.
Are you looking at any hotels in particular ? Let me know, or PM me and I'll give you the low-down on the one's you're looking at.

I went to Bermuda several times during my time in the Navy, at different times of year. It's signifcantly cooler than the likes of Antigua, particuarly the water temp. It's great for Golf, if that's your thing. Very picturesque, but you've still got the slums a few streets back from the glitzy beach fronts.
Sailed there in 2000 from Antigua, then onto Azores and UK.
Very clean and tidy full of Americans and expat brits at the time, as has been said above very expensive although the quality of living is very high. Climate in April/May was ok, no rain mid 20's C. The beaches were very clean, there is a sense or law and order that you don't get in the Carribbian i.e St Lucia, Antigua more like a more posh Barbados.
Well worth going there as it is a bit of the beaten track, what about the Turk and Caicos, BVI's, Bhahamas?

The Reefs - Although it doesn't have the facilities of the Fairmont(s) has probably the best staff on the Island and run by a guy called David Dodwell, who LOVES the tourism industry and his attitude is infectious and trickles down to his staff.. Its just recently undergone a big renovation too. If you stayed there, you wouldn't have a bad visit.
The Fairmonts, hmmm - The Hamilton one is primarily a Business Hotel, so I wouldn't bother if I were you.
The Southampton one styles itself as a 5*, but its not. Not even close, the rooms I always find to be dingy and stingy and not worth the money. The Spa is extra. The Golf course is nice, but you can turn up and play there if you're not staying there anyway. Umm - you get a private beach though !
Have a look at the Newstead, its brand new and very cool...If I were coming here, if I wanted something very modern, close to town - I'd go for the Newstead.
If I wanted the 'feel good' from really helpful and friendly people - it would be the Reefs, without question.

Cheers - just the fact that we have'nt been there - and it's so accessible from NY - tricky to get to other places without a long trip/multiple flights.Very clean and tidy full of Americans and expat brits at the time, as has been said above very expensive although the quality of living is very high. Still, out of JFK you ought to be able to grab JetBlue to Nassau, think they also go to Cancun and St Martin
I know plenty of airlines go there out of LaGuardia, and Continental will probably take you to anywhere you can imagine in the Caribbean out of Newark.
Brits go to the Mediterranean, we go to the Caribbean.
Atlantis in the Bahamas is quite the place to see.

I will look at the Newsteads as an alternative - we are bringing the kids - so the two bedroomed cottages at the Reefs are ideal - don't know whether the Newsteads have anything similar.

I officially got deported in 1990, the police cells are like the American cage type ones, the coppers will give you a kicking given the chance and they feed you a cold KFC once in 3 days, oh yes and they wouldn't tell me the score in the England / Germany world cup game. But apart from that it seemed quite nice

Bermuda is nowhere near the Caribbean and everyone I know who has been says it is 'nice' if you like that sort of thing but extremely expensive and very rule-bound.Any good? Imagining it will be something like the Easter Caribbean only a touch cooler?
Have you thought about Belize?
We've been a few times and always stayed in The Hamilton Princess. As has been said, the private beach is pretty nice. The swimming pool is ok, and the restaurants (blazers compulsory in a couple) are pretty good (lovely breakfast etc).
Downside: it's full of very loud American versions of Harry Enfield's 'Loadsa Money' characters.
Friends have stayed at Pompano Beach and recommend there - if we ever go back I'd be tempted to give that a go.
