Doctors get to bottom of hairspray x-ray
Wednesday, January 7, 2009
It's a medical mystery that surgeons never got to the bottom of in a hospital casualty room - how a woman patient ended up with a can of hairspray up her backside.

Mirela Gradinaru, 37, turned up at the clinic in Arad, western Romania, in agony begging doctors to help her.

Doctors had to remove the giant can of hairspray

But she refused to say just how the can came to be there even after a successful, delicate operation to remove the aerosol.

Doctor Mirandolina Prisca explained: "We had X-rays done to localise the object and then we carried out the operation. The patient was fine after it."

This was a massive can of hairspray

"She was very embarrassed. She was clearly in a lot of pain, however it got there.

"This was not just a little can of deodorant, this was a massive can of hairspray," said one hospital worker.
When I had hair, I used to use mousse, as hairspray gets in your eyes...rolleyes

Dammit I hate it when I confuse a can of hairspray with bite size bits of chocolate too.

It's done so easily. Rarely a day goes by without me bending down to retrieve a pen I've dropped or take a jacket potato out of the oven, when voila!! A large aeorsol is wedged up my arse. Happens all the time...

Reminds me of the one about the customer in a chemist's shop:

Customer: "Ah, hello. I'd like some deodorant, please."

Assistant: "Certainly, would that be the aerosol or the ball type?"

Customer: "Actually I wanted it for my armpits..."

Apparently happens fairly often in hospitals. My brother works in A&E and he's told me many stories of people coming in with tomato sauce bottles wedged up their ass, apparently they just fall over onto them while making a sandwich... naked.

They also keep condoms on the bottles.. for freshness.

When I was living in Cambridge a friends OH was a Doctor and the stuff she used to tell us beggered belief (if you don't give a name it doesn't break Dr-Patient confidentiality) anyway a couple she told were:

A bloke turned up with a 12" Dildo lost up his arse (yes 12") the best bit was he had got it stuck there at a 'party' in Manchester and then driven 150+ miles home to see his own Doctor (the women telling the story) in Cambridge with it stuck there!!!

I young lad (14) was brought in by his mum (very embarrasing) he had got the lid of a deodrant can stuck up his arse (must have pulled the bottle out). He was advised he could either have it removed in hospital or wait for it to 'pass' but it had to happen within the next couple of days or it would have to be surgically removed. He said he would wait for it to 'pass' and went home.... 3 weeks later he was rushed to hospital on deaths door as it was still stuck there, he hadn't taken a crap and the whole lot had gone septic, major surgery and intensive car followed!
