Another moan about these theiving, coniving utiltiy companies.
Received a bill from Thames Water which showed that over the year, i had gone £32 into the red with them and that my £22 per month direct debit would need to be increased.
So just a quick calaculation showed that rather than using £264 of water, i had in fact used £296.
Their reponse was to nearly double my monthly direct debit to £36 per month or £432 per year.
So i phoned them up and asked how they had come to this number? I was asked how many people lived at the house, i said 3, (myself, wife and child). The customer service rep then asked me to hold whilst she "checked the average water consumption for 3 people".
My response was "Why do you need to do that, you've got the ACTUAL water consumption figures FROM MY HOUSE !"
I was told that they calculated the monthly payments based on average household usage. I pointed out that this was utterly stupid and asked for the rep to agree with me that using Actual numbers rather than avergae numbers might be a more sensible approach.
After venting for a bit longer she asks "well how much are you willing to pay then?"
Un fecking beleivable !!! "How about I just pay for what I use, hows that for an idea?"
"OK then, we'll leave the direct debit payments as they are then, but please be aware, if you underpay, you will be liable for any excess water you use"
