Blackberry Storm-any good?

Are they any good?
Particularly interested to hear from anyone who has upgraded from a different blackberry.

depends what you are using for. if its for business id suggest the bold is better.

the storm is really a competitor for the ipone which whilst good is not a serious business phone.

Mrs Windsorphil had one and sent it back after two days, the screen acts as a button and she kept activating funtions when using it as a phone - she couldn't put up with it and has changed to the curve.

Got one, didn't like it, sold it for £400 on eBay and bought an iPhone 3G instead.

I found it very slow, full of bugs, erratic accelerometer, didn't like the click screen, not very intuitive os, the list goes on...

It will be a business phne-but won't really be used for businessy stuff other than picking up odd emails.
THe majority of its use will be personal so a cross between a normnal blackberry and an iphone sounds like what Im after.

Why would you want wifi?

Wifi for me is essential as I don't get very good network coverage at work. It's also quicker than 3G browsing.

I don't suppose your wife has massive finger shaped ears does she by any chance?

Doesn't it have the same function like the iphone that disables the buttons when you put it to your ear?

I don't think so automatically, but I may be wrong, there is a lock button on the top, the iphone has a proximity sensor that automatically turns off the screen.

I'm not a particularly techie-savvie 'phone user looking for the latest kit, but my contract renewal came up a few weeks ago in time for the launch of the Blackberry.

I it!!!!

Primarily I like to make phone calls occasionally! But I also love the browser (not quite as good an interface as Opera Mini which I got used to on my previous Nokia), the touch screen, the media player and emailing is great. The keyboard took a few days of getting used to - but I wouldn't want to be without it now.

I picked up a second battery almost straight away - my Nokia was never "good" but this will barely last a day. That's because I'm using it so much though!

The software for synchronising is clunky and the media transfer is shiiiiiite - technical term - but I can live with its shortcomings.

Honestly don't know what the deal with Wifi is all about - not using it for intense data moving though, just some lightweight browsing.

And, of course,Vodafone's coverage - though not perfect - is, in real life situations, better than my friends' and families' competing providers!

I've had mine for nearly a month now and love it. It does have a couple of quirky bits, like the ability to put it on hold with your ear whilst in a call etc but overall I'm really pleased with it.
Sending and receiving emails etc are a doddle and I like the qwerty keyboard in landscape use.
Camera is ok and the uploads to Facebook etc are great.

On a similar vein, has anyone had experience of the HTC Touch HD? Any good? I like the look of it and the reviews of it are good, however, I can't seem to locate it on the Vodafone site which seems ood as another site has it as a Vodafone phone.

I am tempted to wait for the Nokia N97 though!

I have had most if not all Blackberrys being an IT Director, I could not wait for my storm but I just dont like it the keyboard is a pain. I am waiting for the new Curve which should be anytime soon much nicer device. If it is for a home user them buy the Apple much nice unit

Haven't read the whole thread as up to my eyes today. Pretty good receiving emails but always dropping connection as a phone.

Better products out there I think maybe Bold or even the trusty 8320.

My father and uncle have them here in the office.

Seem good enough, if not a bit fiddly to set up for emails etc.

My father has had a few issues with his, but I put that down to his inability to use new technology, as my uncle has had no such issues so far.
