I've been playing a bit of Texas Hold-em offline and fancy registering online with a Poker site for free practise and also practise some strategies before playing for money.
1. Does anyone here play TH online?
2. I like the look of PKR is anyone registered with them?
3. Would anyone like to share any TH tips?
4. What is everyone's favourite poker site and why?

I also use this one. Just for fun/practice and not money. Problem is, if you're not playing for money then you tend to get the 'all in' brigade who go in every hand regardless as they don't care about losing. But, if you play for money then there's no way you can read your opponents as you can in real life and that takes away a large amount of the fun/skill. From a practice point of view, I've personally never found it particularly useful as it's a world away from 'real life' poker...

Erm me, and I did quite nicely out of it thanks. There may be some dodgy sites out there but the big ones make more than enough cash without having to resort to nefarious tactics.BigLepton said:

Those of us who make a living from it?Anyway, to the OP: there's plenty of ways to start playing poker online and win real money without it costing you anything. The first thing I'd recommend is looking at some rakeback sites (http://www.raketherake.com or http://www.rakeback.com are both good) BEFORE joining any poker sites as if you start taking it seriously they can save you a hell of a lot of money. Just about all poker sites run games called "freerolls" that are completely free to enter but have small amounts of prize money. If you want to win money in the freerolls then smaller sites such as Betfriends, Sun Poker and Wass Poker are preferable as their freerolls have fewer players so you'll stand more chance of winning without having to play against all-in lunatics for three hours to win $0.04. Also, read poker magazines and join poker forums as they often have exclusive freeroll games just for their readers/members that have very few players in them - the quality of play will be much, MUCH higher though.

That's because it's the other players losing the money to each other, not the poker sites losing their money to customers...They get their cut of the money whatever - it's foolproof and guaranteed from their point of view!

EDIT - OP I use Ladbrokes alot (well quite alot over 13,000 hands in the last 12 months), just join the small rooms (2cent \ 4cent blinds). I usually start with $4 in a room and can make it up to $30-60 in a few hours.
