Just got an Ipod touch (basically an Iphone without the phone or text capabilities), and think it's a really cool gadget... I just feel there's so much more potential for it...

I know it cant be jailbroken (hacked) to use non apple applications yet, as it's the 2nd generation ipod, but any of you recommend the good applications that you use?

I'd rather get recommendations than pay for it and find out it's crap!

"remote" acts as a remote control for your Itunes on computer via wifi.

Google earth and google maps are pretty cool.

Facebook application is useful.

TapDefence - great game!

Air Sharing - Transfer files wirelessly from any computer to your ipod, good for backing up etc, or taking word/pdfs places. Transfer rate is a bit slow though.

Free version is called pocketdyno, search for it in the store as there's a pay version too.

Shazam - when a music is playing, Shazam 'listens' to 5-10 seconds and tells you details of song, Artist, Album & song name etc. If you live in London, the TubeStatus is pretty good. Tris, Hangman and Lightsaber are a bit of fun too.

Down load "Truphone" for free then enjoy calls around the world for free, just the same as skype, obviously must be connected by wifi, but the application is great. I have had it now for 5 weeks and its awesome. Mind you i am in a country were wifi connections on the high streets are free and plentiful. Calls to landlines and mobiles do carry a small charge
