Cheap hotels in New York
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm travelling to NY for the first time at the end of April for 6 nights. Got lured in with the cheap flights, but hotels look pretty expensive!
I'm aiming to spend not a lot more than £75 a night and hoping to stay as close to Times Square as possible. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Many thanks,
Nick

Current exchange rates are against you, but I've stayed at the Gershwin
It's basic and the rooms are small, but it does have a certain charm and a decent (if expensive) bar.
The best thing about it though is it's location, it's practically on 5th Avenue and only a block or 2 from the Empire state building.

we stayed at The Exchange Hotel (now Eurostars) just off Wall Street...

It's about 5 mins on the subway from Midtown and has the advantage of being quiet at night
All the best

I am from NY and I can tell you this, none exist. Cheap MOtels, yes certainly, but not Hotels. And if you do venture into a MOtel, check the inside of the closet for markings. In my shag'n days when I was single I think I have visited everyroom and eveyr motel there is in NY. I tagged the inside of the closet with "KoRn".
