Just found out i've got a place in the London Marathon.
I applied, didn't get in, but my brother-in-law has just got me a place through people who have dropped out at his work.
Erm
I've had a Christmas of excess, am probably a stone overweight, and haven't done any running since last summer.
Don't get me wrong, I'm chuffed to bits, but i'm a little concerned as to how i'm going to manage this!!
Training starts tonight!

As he said - start your training now, and train well, and you shouldn't have any problems - particularly if you have been running before.
I used to run marathons years ago - it all started when I was 17, and my dad said that I would never manage it.
Never took part in the London marathon though - would have loved to, purely for the whole occasion.

Lets face it, you'll quit sooner or later so save yourself the in between effort and quit now. A nasty stubbed toe should do it and then crack open a pork pie for elevenses.

well done (I think) on getting a place! Not sure but I think you can download a training plan specifically designed for the marathon - suggest you follow that as best you can! One of my mates did it last year and said it was a brilliant experience! Keep us posted on your progress! (2 top tips (pardon the pun!) 1: Make sure you rub vaseline on your nipples to prevent 'joggers nipple'- I am told it is incredibly painful! and 2: invest in some really decent special running socks )Best of luck with it!
Just pick up a proper marathon planner.
Something like this will do you great - http://www.amazon.co.uk/4-Months-Hour-Marathon/dp/...
Skip the first couple of weeks to make sure that the dates work with the marathon date.
You'll be fineeeeee.
See you on the startline!
