Britain's most famous milk chocolate maker has decided to warn milk chocolate lovers that Britain's most famous milk chocolate contains - milk.
The latest Cadbury Dairy Milk wrappers feature a logo showing a glass and a half of milk being poured into a chocolate chunk, put milk first in a list of ingredients and explains that there is "The equivalent of three quarters of a pint of milk of fresh liquid milk in every half pound of milk chocolate".
But Cadbury says it is also necessary to print warnings in capital letters in yellow boxes saying "CONTAINS: MILK" in case people who are allergic to milk do not realise that there is milk in Cadbury Dairy Milk bars.

Seriously, what prompted this? Are there really people thick enough to not know that there is milk in Dairy Milk?

Indeed, but one might think that calling a product 'Cadbury's Dairy Milk' might just be a bit of a giveaway.

Both my kids are milk allergic and whilst I fully support proper labelling of food so that all ingredients are propely listed and all allergens identified, this is just utter rubbish and far from adding anything to the debate for proper food labelling, it actually sets it back.

Proper food labelling makes life easier for anyone with severe allergies, but this is just more pandering to the lowest common denominator, which judging by the 'Use of Latin' thread and the 'Babies Graves' thread, 2009 is set to be an all time low. We can't be so far away from reverse evolution that during the course of the next 12 months, someone in this country will turn into amoeba and slide back into the ocean.

Tesco Eggs say "Contains Eggs" on the box.

Even when the box is empty!!!

I bought some smoked mackerel yesterday and I was astonished to find that it had a warning saying 'May contain fish'.

There was no 'may' about it, it was 100% fish, vacuum packed so nothing else could get in.
