Do you think that people have eventually begun to realise just how damaging this recession is? It's not going to be a short haul by any means and it's going to be a hell of a time for most people.

No. Not until it personally affects me will the severity of it be realised by me.

I know countless people lose their jobs but it's all a bit "distant" until it happens to someone you know.

And as for the junk on the high street closing down, good. It's about time we got rid of the dead wood.

I don't think it's be half the recession it is if the media didn't hype it so much. The s seem hell-bent on sensationalising the bad news, and skimming over anything good.

I started a new job on the 1st of December, and although it hasn`t got anything to do with what i read at uni, and the pay isn`t great. They are a start up company in the uk and have a 5 year business plan which is not being affected by the recession. But for the first time in years i am happy to go to work so i count myself pretty lucky

FFS yes, but not everyone dwells on the negative. If it is going to get as bad as predicted why not make hay now but still enjoy yourself. BTW if the recession bothers you...someday you're going to die, oh and live another 20+ years you'll go through another recession.

Money is nice and it is security, but still what is there to loose? A new big plasma TV? As long as I've got food and a roof for my family I'll take less or more of anything else.

Most haven't, because as usual Nu Laba and the Nu Laba controlled Media refer to it as a Credit Crunch, i.e. it's not a recession at all....It's just harder to get more credit to purchase that 50" Plasma.... Once more people lose their jobs, more businesses go under etc.. then more people will realise.

Yet, those whose jobs ought to go (Cabinet members) are set for life with Pensions paid for by those who they let down.

Like this mornings red tops reporting gloom over job losses at JCB,Land of Leather,Findus etc.Best part of half a page,BIG headline and then..............the very last paragraph tells of 9000 jobs to be created in Morrisons/Sainsburys.(Granted not exactly like for like jobs,but you get the drift,bad news sells!)
