I'm convinced that I really need one of those but Mrs Colonel C is adamant they are over-hyped rubbish.

What will you be cutting with it? I think Mrs Colonel C would be pleasantly surprised and I know some of these infomercials come across badly but it really is a good tool, but I guess I am biased

Laminate floor panels. We did the living room and kitchen a while back, which was bad enough. Now we intend to do a bedroom and landing with many corners and tricky bits. So the prospect of cutting lengths of panel on the floor rater than getting up and down to cut on a bench is very appealing.

Not what they were really designed for but I used one to trim some half-inch ply sheets I was putting on a shed roof last summer. I hadn't used it since purchase so thought it was time for it to earn its keep. Quite successful but holding down the 'plunge' was tiring so the initial cut was a bit of a switchback. Not a problem with quick, short, cuts.

Does need either a space or sacrificial wood underneath the cut as with any circular saw.

You wont buy a better tool for cutting laminate flooring (up to 12mm), make sure you get an 18TCT blade, connect it to your vacuum and you will have no dust, will keep Mrs. Colonel C very happy and the bonus is you will be able to tell her she was wrong
