Any clues how I can find out the date the mapping data was obtained?

No idea I'm afraid, but if you're looking for up to date images I tend to find that this place is better than gmaps:

I found the old image I was looking for in the dark depths of my work hard drive. It is actually a Microsoft Live one. I'm just going to put the copyright from the image (2007) and hope for the best.
