Bin Police lunacy strikes again
Discussion
A friend of mine runs a business in a shared set of units. They recently had their post stolen due to Royal Mail wrongly delivering it on a day over Christmas when they were closed. A full sack of mail was stolen by some opportunist. They had CCTV so reported to police etc etc... Anyway...
A few days later he gets a visit from a local councilor who says he has evidence of fly tipping and that they will be facing a £5k fine... In the stolen post was an Amazon DVD, the crims had pocketed the dvd and disguarded the packaging (with the business address on it) on the street.
I am guessing road sweepers are told to single out rubbish with company address details printed on it???
Anway... said councilor then says that the whole thing will go away if they donate £50 to a local project he is involved in.... they basically explain that this is all a result of the post being stolen and show him the CCTV of the theft..... After much deliberation the councilor decides that there could be a blip in his case and says that if they cooperate and be nice to him then he wont proceed... but will keep all the evidence for future investigations should there be any...
He made it clear that any sign of defiance would not bring about a good result so my mate has just decided to get on and do nothing about it...
It's another utterly sickening example of how local councils are using the new bin laws that Labour gave them to run a mafia style system over local small business.....

Yes, the whole thing does stink.
I only wish my mate would persue it more aggressively ... at the very least he should have tried to get the police to take custody of the 'evidence' to add to their case of the theft... that would have been a legit way to remove the evidence from the scum councilor!

Yea, sadly it's not practical to tape / record these things when theese low lifes arrive out of the blue..... They think that like the FBI they dont need to bother booking an appointment to come and see you.
I run a small business and they came round thretening me with 6 months in prison a year or so ago... for a business envelope that found it's way into the rubbish that I took to the local tip!
Council civil enforcers... they are the lowest form of scum.... I have more respect for the local crack dealer!

We have actually had a warning letter about putting the WRONG plastic bottle tops in the recycle bin, if it happens again they intend to stop our recycle (or is it ALL) collections,
Is yours a PH postcode!
Well come on, be reasonable. It needs to be nicely sorted before they ship it to China and bury it in a big hole.Is yours a PH postcode!
We get this from the local council about the bulk bags we deliver our sand etc in.
Not infrequently the customer fills it with rubbish and leaves it on the pavement at the end of the job.
Council bloke then rings us up asking when we're going to remove "our" rubbish, as it's in one of our bags, with our name and number on the side.
We normally ask them if they phone Ford everytime a fiesta gets dumped, or do they ask Macdonalds to clear away their wrappers. They usually say no, to which we reply, well it's not our rubbish, but we will recycle the bag if you like (which we will do for any of our bags).
They usually leave it at that.

Write back and tell them that if you take that tone wit you again you'll put ALL your waste in the rubbish bin. You're under no obligation to recycle, it's them who want your help. Cheeky feckers. Is yours a PH postcode!
