Woman 91 dies following council eco bullsh!t
Discussion
There’s some quite telling posts on that forum from the US contributors, they seem to have got the current state of the UK weighed up better than the UK population!
from the forum;
"I guess I’m just too tired, but I don’t understand what the money she was forced to pay was supposed to go for. Was it to put in some insulation and weather-stripping, or a more efficient furnace? Or, was it just a super-tax levied on her (and the others) to pay for the invisible carbon...like a protection racket?"
"Well, there’s at least one human death caused by global warming"
"Lots of stupid stuff coming out of the UK these days."
"I wonder if the Brits force their Muslim population to comply with the same “green” socialist regs? < / rhetorical question
Nah, murdering sc*mbag green socialists only pick on defenseless frail 91 year old great grannies."

It's in the Daily Mail, it must be true...
It's everywhere, does that make it more true?On a wider note, any more crass comments due? Anybody work for the council?
The focus so far from PH has largely been on me, and a newspaper, vulnerable people are forgotten and/or worthless and disposable?
Utterly pathetic comments, keep it up.

What I cant work out is what the money was for. The story you posted doesn't tell us that. So what was the council asking her for £16,000 for?
A family have expressed their fury after the death of their disabled 91-year-old mother who 'was forced to take out a second mortgage to foot an unnecessary £16,000 council billThe family of bed-ridden grandmother Dorothy Hacking blame Thanet Council for 'disgusting treatment' after the pensioner became overstretched trying to pay for work to meet government regulations to reduce CO2 emissions. They say she was beset by stress and health problems after being left with no option but to take out a second mortgage for the stone-cladding repairs to make her home compliant with the Home Energy Conservation Act in Ramsgate, Kent.
I briefly read the report. My thought at the end was somwthing along the lines of why are the family all up in arms now after the old dear's popped it and the press are suddenly involved?
Why didn't the family get involved earlier and tell the council to poke their £16K?
Seemd to me that it could be the family thrashing around looking for someone to blame.. other than themselves of course!

The council maintained the work was essential to comply with the Home Energy Conservation Act which requires it to reduce its CO2 emission by 30 per cent....
Problems started last year when council inspectors sent the £16,000 bill and an appeal to benefits agency the Department for Work and Pensions failed.

The money was for insulation if I have read that correctly? About reducing carbon output by needing less heating.
Stress can seriously affect those much younger than this, and I can see how it would adversely affect the health of someone this age. Yes, 91 year olds die, but the stress caused by this IMO was a huge contributing factor.
What isn't clear is what steps were taken to help, if any, or whether someone at the council simply was "following orders to the letter" and taking the computer says no attitude that is becoming prevalent.

She purchased the (former) council house under the right to buy scheme. Which included certain financial obligations into the future. This is one of them. This would be one of the reasons people got the houses cheap, like really cheap.
So no the council cant walk up to anybodys house. Just those purchased under the right to buy scheme. In which case the owners should have read the small print and been putting money aside for such occasions. She didn't put any money aside.....

Did you miss this (below)? Or are you just another deluded lentilist happy to support ecofascism?

What's worthless about this? The life of an edlerly woman?

That makes tax gas ecofascism perfectly OK then? As long as it's advertised? There's no justification for the government Act or the council Policy in the first place, did that pass you by on your quest for excuses?
