Silver polish and one of those fuzzy sort of rags/cloths, like you'd use with Brasso.

Wife did her wedding ring at the weekend and it came up a treat. Funny stuff Platinum, because it seems not to scrath but can, if you're careless and hamfisted like I am with my wedding ring (which is now not worth polishing!) it will dent.

My old engagement ring was Platinum....best thing was just to rub. If you hand it into where you bought it, they will give it a polish for you...sometimes free of charge biggrin

Ultrasonic cleaner, and THEN you go and polish it if need be.

Every time you polish metal you are removing some, and every time you polish metal you also leave hairline scratches on the surface. Even a very soft towel or cloth will do this. See if they sell E-Z-Est in the UK, nasty stuff but works quite well to remove tarnish.

Coin Collector in me has come out of the bag, I'll put him away now.
