TV Sticks - any good

Being older & not sure of technology, have a PC at home & am thinking about buying a plug in TV receiver

Has anyone done this? are they any good?

I had one to plug into the Work laptop when I was being sent around the country. It was a digital one.

It actually worked fairly well. I wouldn't get all the channels on the little antenna supplied. But would always get a few. Plugged into the house tv socket it worked perfectly.

I've got a Toshiba USB one. I can't get any reception from the supplied mini antenna, but I get a load of freeview digital channels when I plug it into a wall socket.

It was in the Manager's Cheapo section at PC World. I didn't need one but it sort of fell into my basket just before the tills. I'm a sucker for something new.

I have a Freecom one. Works very well. Software is a bit clunky but not too bad. As others have said, the supplied aerial is next to useless but plugged in to our house aerial with a splitter/amp it picks up all the channels fine.

Just picked-up a cheap-oh one from a dodgy market dealer, thought it would be crap but actually works pretty well. The channel list changes as you move around but the picture is good and you can plug a wall arial into it.

Good for digital recording and screen capture as well.

I have one, works fine if plugged into a proper aerial, useless if not.

They must have improved a lot in recent years then, 3 years ago I tried one as I was feed up watching GP's and stuff on a 2" Casio handheld TV at work. Couldn't pick up any channels even with a roof mounted aerial.
