65% of Nigerian Student Applications Refused UK Entry....

There seems to be some filtering going on rather than the Daily Mail Free-For-All..........
10,090 Nigerian Students Granted UK Visa in 2008 : (TD) Pg10: A total of 10, 090, out of the 28, 500 Nigerian students, who applied for visas to study in the United Kingdom were successful last year, with a refusal rate of 65 percent, representing 35 per cent of those who sought to study in the UK. First Secretary and Head of Visa Section of the British High Commission, Mr. Jason Ivory, who disclosed this at the presentation of this year's British Council's Education UK Exhibition in Lagos yesterday, said this was an improvement on 8, 700 and 7, 500 visas issued in 2007 and 2006 respectively. No fewer than 10, 000 Nigerians are currently studying in the UK, making the country the third highest, after China with 16, 000 and India with 18, 000 students in UK universities. On the reason for the high rate of refusal, Ivory explained that most of the applications that were sent in were either incomplete or contained false information, adding that the 65 per cent was an improvement on the 70 per cent refusal rate that was recorded the previous year. He said the High commission had organised series of public campaigns, which made prospective candidates aware that anyone caught with a forged document would not get UK visa for 10 years.

Because they pay huge fees unsibsidised by the UK to a university and are generally quite good in actually going back to Nigeria when they finish their courses. Mostly engineering and other things associated with the oil indusrty.Edited by The Ben on Friday 16th January 23:43

My maths may be rusty but pretty sure its only 35% left from 100%. Reckon they should be charged even more for visas from all the lovely money they make from their scamming.

I can reassure you guys that the only Nigerians coming here to study will be of the highest social classes.
I would hazard a guess that your average Nigerian student will be better versed in English and will most definitely be more diligent than your average Brit. I would be disappointed if these folks did indeed return home.
I think that Nigerians are the least of our problems when it comes to immigration.
At least they LOVE Britain in the truest sense. The cut glass accents are a little timewarped though

You're confusing a university student with just some bloke who comes here to work.Like someone said above, Nigerians coming here to study aren't your average Nigerian, they're usually from a wealthy family or are sponsored by an oil company. The ones that get refused are the ones that try and chance it on a student visa when they're not going to be a student.
