Electric fire doesn't work....

Any ideas on this folks?

Electric fire - you knwo the sort s- sits in the wall, meant to look like a real fire. But Doesn't..

Any ways.... turn it on, it starts to heat up then it turns itself off. Won't turn back on until its been off for a while.

Do these have a thermostat? Temp regulator or something?

Some makes do have thermostats, pretty sure Burley ones do, other popular ones like Creative and Valor don't. How long have you had it?

Hmmm i've taken it out of the fireplace and it seems to bea sealed unit once you actually get to the body of it - rivets used instead of screws....

the onyl identifying mark it has got on it is a stickers telling me it is a

"Chandler Fireplace Heater"

I had exactly the same problem with one of my electric (fan heater type) fires.
It is probably overheating due to a build-up of dust.
Give it a thorough clean and blow-through with compressed air (you can buy it in a can - try Screwfix) as this worked a treat for me.

BTW, Mine doesn't have a separate temp regulator, it's part of the heating element so that would have needed replacing

Although some electric fires have a thermostat, ALL of them with have an overheat stat. Its part of the regulations.

Some are auto-resetting, they'll trip, and then turn back on after a cooldown period. Other will have to be switched off before they reset.

Normally due to a build up of dust in the air inlet, or perhaps insufficent clearance around them.
