In the scheme of history to date, who do you think is the nastiest person?

I reckon Vlad The Impaler has got to be up there - if the documented accounts of him are even half true.... (reading a novel based around him at the moment)

Not necessarily the modern variety but I mean the ones that ordered the conquering of the new world, persecution of some races, instigating the inquisition and other such high points in the Catholic Church.

I don't think a lot of people actually realise just what a monster this guy was - being totally overshadowed by his contermporary Hitler. I am sure Stalin had a lot more of his own people killed than Adolf - but Stalin, being percieved as left wing by some, gets much more of a break....

Nero and Calugula were pretty terrible, the former forcing the rich to commit suicide so that he could have their cash to continue with his own vanity projects - bit like Death Tax!
