Right no wise cracks....I get enough spam email for Viagra to not think about the mispronunciation.

What is needed before we can say that this government is going to kill the country? Are Brown and Darling on a bet to see who can waste the most money? It is going to take years to sort this mess out!

Cant the queen go in and kill them?? Surely she is allowed to do what she likes??

Did you ask the queen? Surely she has the final say..

Maybe I should write to her, and tell her it was all the rage in the early 1600's, given the lightness of metals these days she would still be able to weild excalibur and chop his head off

Here is a website giving a plan on how to do it!

Yes and yes. She just sends the army into Downing Street and drags them out. Literally. The army were in fact close to doing that in 1979 it seems.

She could take the non violent approach and use a specific protocol to dissolve Parliament during a term, although that would likely lead to a constitutional crisis. At which point the army comes out and shoots all the republicans.

Strangely enough, I'm not against either of the two possibilities to be frank scratchchin

The people who have killed this country, who have created a disaster of unparalleled proportions, who have done more damage than WW1, Hitler, and every single union (and possibly all of those combined) is not the government. It is the people who work in the financial sector that was able to do the damage that has created this problem, and it is absolutely nobody else. They have been an utter disgrace, they have behaved with no thought whatsoever other than for themselves and they have absolutely treated everyone else with disdain. They have been rewarded for doing so when in fact they should be locked up for a bloody long time, but we just don't do white collar crime in this country. Just like architects of the past who were knighted for building tower blocks built of cardboard and asbestos, we've even fking knighted some of the architects of this unmitigated disaster.

Once you've accepted who has really killed this country stone dead, then you can look around for who should have stopped them, and i blame all political parties with the possible exception of the libs, but then unfortunately they are too small to listen too. And in fact i was reminded today by somebody on the radio, that none of the newspapers warned of this impending disaster either.

Yes, the government has played its part in the disaster, but when you say you want to force an election, who else can you seriously vote for other than the party WHO ALSO sat on their hands when this dreadful saga was unfolding, and not only that, but think of the group of people who have genuinely shattered our economy, and think who as a whole would you reckon they vote for? It ain't labour it really ain't. I reckon the OP wants to bring in the party who the people who have killed the country would vote for!

I'm not standing up for labour on this, i'm really not, but i am in despair at the future the country is looking at. I have been saying for a long time that there is really no viable party out there to vote for, but when i started to say it i had no conception at all about how bad things were going to get.

I was listening to the rad on the way home and someone was talking about the failure of the tories to oppose the iraq war. I still seethe over that, i mean literally seethe. What the fk is the point of having an opposition party who does not do any opposing? What are they for, what are they being paid for, if they're just going to sit on their sweaty, loathsome behinds squeezing blackheads whilst rubber-stamping everything the govt wants to do? Not only was the Iraq war an absolutely god-given opportunity to depose labour that the tories were simply too lazy to take up, but just think, if they had done so THEY'D BE IN POWER NOW so i sort of feel there is absolutely no point in blaming labour for anything, because if the tories weren't just so diabolical Labour wouldn't even be in power in the first place.

PH is possibly the staunchest area of support for the Tories. Second to that is possibly the Daily Mail, but even they're starting to despair at the prospect of the tories saving us. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/columnists/artic...

I have to say, i'm glad Ken Clarke is coming back, but i also do have to agree, it just speaks volumes for the state of politics in this country.

I don't know what the answer is, i really don't, i think we're absolutely fked. There is nobody out there to vote for, absolutely nobody at all. We might just as well have a military coup and put the Royals in charge. They might be as dysfunctional a family as the best of them, but by gum they've been able to line their bank accounts like there's no tomorrow so perhaps they could do the same for the UK.

Id second that. Harry to be in charge though not will or charles. Both of them are a bit limp.

Harry'll fix it.
As for the tories sitting on their hands yes they did do a fair bit of that however they have of late been getting off their bottoms and coming up with some really good ideas and opposition some of which the labour party tends to nick and butcher then implement in typical disasterous labour fashion.

You are living proof that this government can simply say the same lies over and over and over again until people believe them.

Get some independence.

People believe them? where do you get that idea from? Nobody believes them, i don't think anyone believes any government. They're not going to win the next election, and they didn't win the last one, there was just no choice.

And the other people to blame of course, is us, the people, because we went along with it all, we worked harder than anyone else just so that we could pay higher prices than anyone else and we let the stupid banks lend us all that money so we could buy our toys and our well over-inflated houses. Not one single other nation in europe was doing the same, possibly no other country in the world outside America. No other country in the world was as daft as us, not even the americans. The americans don't live in tiny houses and they don't pay breathtaking money for petrol.

We've got the worst health, the worst education, all our manufacturing is in foreign hands and now we've got no financial industry either. We let it happen. It's terrible.

But hey, blame the govt if it makes you feel better. It must always be someone elses fault mustn't it?

Your second message makes alot more sense.

I blame, in no particular order;

Banks for lending irresponsibly
Banks for thinking investment banking and trading are not cyclical
Borrowers for borrowing what they couldn't afford
The public for not putting money aside for a rainy day and spending instead on cheap tat that gets thrown away
The government for increasing public spending to unsustainable levels
The government for not repaying more public debt when they had the opportunity
The government for relying too much on one sector for the economy
The government for hiding true unemployment figures and thereby avoiding reform (to the benefit of those people and the economy)
The regulators for not regulating properly

That'll do for now.

We did not elect the marble muncher and the sooner we get a fresh election, the better.

There is economic growth and recession constantly, always has been and most likely always will be. People and especially companies often act in the the manner which gains them the greatest gain for the least effort. There is nothing new in this. There is nothing surprising in this. That they have been able to do it unchecked to this extent is largely down to those with the power to do something about it, not doing anything about it. Either through ignorance or negligence, the result is the same. A market does not follow a moral ideal, only profit. To expect otherwise is naive.

What has happened here is the complete failure of the government to provide any sort of fallback plan for when the economic growth turned into recession, because they arrogantly believed they had 'ended boom and bust' and were therefore free to spend like never before. Worse than that, they were not content to spend the proceeds of economic success, they had to borrow extra. And the amount they have borrowed is truely staggering once you take into account the figures that are excluded from the official data for political expedience.

The fact that they have been in power for more than a decade means that almost everything about the current climate in the UK can be laid at their door. From the creeping invasiveness of the state into people's private lives, to the appalling state of public finances there one place that blame can be laid and unfortunately we have to put up with them and their feckless incompetence until 2010.
