European road trip in a motorhome?
Discussion
A few friends and I are planning a bit of a road trip around europe (france, spain, italy, germany, croatia etc) this summer (approx 3 weeks). We plan to hire a 7 berth motorhome and use that for both transport and somewhere to sleep.
Has anyone here done something similar before?
If so, how easy was it to get anywhere near the actual city centres?
I dont expect to be able to park/sleep right in the centre, but id rather not be in a camp site 20 miles away (otherwise the taxis will cost as much as the hotel would have).
Any advice would be great, cheers. Especially if someone knows somewhere to park near Barcelona/Munich/Paris/Prague/Milan etc.
Cheers.....

I have toured around Europe in a 6 birth camper and you won't have any problems finding sites anywhere. We just headed for the tourist info in each stopover, which is always signposted, and got a local camp site map.
CheersBasically, we will be wanting nights out at each city, and im thinking that getting back to the campsite in the middle of the night will be difficult/expensive. How far away from the centre were the campsites on average?
I remember doing something similar in an old AEC Regent "RT" bus back in 1962. We went to Athens, eventually, and got ourselves into some scrapes along the way but all in all it was a laugh. Met a few gals on the way and all my mates got tucked right in amongst them. I didn't cause god told me women were no good and to stick to men.
Good Luck

cheap bedford rascal [the van, not the man] and a ferry ticket might well do the job!

Apologies for all the questions, but could you get back late at night, or did all the public transport stop?
Hopefully we can do something similar to what you suggest at all the major cities on the route. Will need some serious research I think....
