£11.30 for a Pint & a Sarnie!

Been to Paris today… Got to CDG a bit early so decided to have a beer and a plastic chiabatta (sp?) sarnie thing, whilst I waited for the flight to be called.
Got a €10 Euro note out (not thinking). €11.30. Hey Ho
I’m sat there chewing on a mouth full of banality, when I realise that at the practically 1 to 1 exchange rate (£1 = €1.0072), by my simple calculations means these were about £11. 30 in “real” money. I mean, £11 quid for a beer and a sandwich. Jaysus fookin chroist!
OK, airports are expensive, but it doesn’t really hit you until you go there and spend some.

I went skiing in Les deux Alpes this christmas and prices were horrific €11 burger and chips €5 bottles of coke meant taking food was the obly real option for a student. €5.50 for a bottle of corona meant drowning my sorrows wasn't really an option either (the draught lager was terrbile, i think the lines were dirty).
France is a ripp off, has been for years.
Last year, I remember paying £7 for a glass of coke in Merribel. Later in the year, I was out with a group of lads in Central Paris. Clearly we were Brits, so that took to charging us over £11 for each pint!
ELEVEN QUID! It was cheaper to have cocktails.

It's not much better in town (Paris) either. I picked up a pizza and a diet coke for 18 euros in some grotty place near St Lazare last night. Tonight I grabbed a maccy D on the way back from the office to the hotel - 7 euros and change for a quarter pounder cheese meal.
Paris is one huge rip off. I stay close to St Lazare cos it's cheaper than our office area (Place de la Madeleine) but walking distance. Still 110 euros a night for a really crap hotel room that you can't swing a cat in.
Madeleine meal prices - 2 beers, 1 steak and chips, one cheese omelette and chips, 2 small desserts - 110 euros.
Zut alors!

Watch where you step Kev.I was at Geneva airport last week. I bought a Burger king whopper meal x 2, and a chicken royale effort, grand total..........41CHF or 30 quid! In Meribel itself the price of things were horrific, and in one bar half way up the mountain they were selling Walkers "chips" (A pack of cheese and onion crisps). These were a total bargain however, at just £3 per pack!
