Mice...

So, it would appear we have an univited house guest this winter, possibly (likely?) more.

So we need to trap 'em. Quickly. Before my gf and my female flat mate find out and got beserk.

Recommendations for traps please!

Are the humane ones any good? I think if i were a mouse, i'd just scurry back to whereever i'd been removed from if i was deposited outside!

Peanut butter is a good bait for a humane trap. Oh, and release a mile or so away and Bob's your uncle.

ETA. If you do use a humane trap, check frequently, as the buggers are capable of chewing their way out of even the metal ones.

Chocolate, proper old fashioned no messing trap and job done!

We get one every few days in the loft with this method, have done for the last 20 years...

Squirrels on the other hand are bds to try and catch!

Have you tried tying a piece of cheese to your nose, lying down on the floor with your mouth open and hoping they'll scurry in?

Best way to trap em is to smear cheese on the back of a frying pan, then sprinkle some pepper onto the cheese. Place the pan near where mice/sign of have been seen and sit back and wait. Mousy will scent the cheese from his hiding place and cautiously come to investigate. He will aproach the pan timidly and then suspiciously sniff the cheese. At this point the pepper will make him sneeze causing him to crack his head on the pan rendering the rodent unconsious. Upon hearing the thump you then rush in, grab the pan and club the little bd,. Job done !!

Honestly, the most humane way is the old fashioned snap trap that breaks their necks. The other ways, they either starve, chew their own legs off or get eaten by cats.

I got rid of mine a year ago by this method. Never been back...

Use a 12 bore, nothing works quite as well on a mouse.

The only possible alternative is hollowpoint, but you really don't wnat to go there unless you're taking on bigger mice.
