I'm really starting to hate Israel.
Discussion
I'm not a muslim or even a great supporter of the Palestinian people.
But when I read stuff like this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7841999.stm
and here the Isreali spoke-people spout some of the propoganda that we've heard from them over the last few weeks,
and see images like this:

And it brings hatred of the 'civilised' state of Israel to me. I just think the justification for these levels of violence is beyond that of a civilised society.

Since when has it really ever had anything to do with religion? I am certainly no expert on the situation or the recent conflict but have to say I do think religion comes into it.

f
k! Hamas need to up their budget. They seem to be getting most of their stuff from the Shanghai Firework Company. sleep envy said:

wouldn't be fair in a capitalism market otherwise, would it?That's like you having your new toy, me getting a Passat and saying they're both Porsche Products lets race.
(Pictures by the way the HWM ones are crap.)
Noooo, for this skirmish to be fair the Arabs need to man up with some main battle tanks and an airforce.

+1.Religion is very obviously an contributor to the troubles. There's obviously significant political issues but you can't possibly say it's not a factor unless you're truely ignorant of the rival cultures.
For the unenlightened consider this; both Israel and Palestine are deeply religious countries and most of what they deem acceptable is derived from this. Both religions condemn the other to eternal damnation and consider them inferior.
With that in mind it's a hell of a coincidence that they think it's ok to knock the s
t out of each other and each take the moral high ground do you not think? For me it's things like this that I don't think do them any favours.

Especially if the telegraphs assertions about the grass being singed from white phospherous is correct - I think it's Protocol 3 (though it could be 2) of the Geneva convention is VERY specific about the use of incendiary weapons in area's where they could cause damage to civilian property, regardless of the prescence of enemy combatants. Personally I think the grass would be a bit more than singed by white phospherous but I'd admit to being no expert.
At the end of the day though, I can see it from both sides. The Palestinans will be pissed because after WW2 we just cut up a big chunk of their land and said "Here's Israel" - I mean we'd be peeved if they did that to the Midlands or something.
On the other hand, the Israeli's understandably want security for their population.
To be honest the only way I can see this ending is when one side or the other is wiped out completely, and I'm not 100% convinced it will end in victory for the Israelis as they're not exactly surrounded by friends down there.

I give it 5 mins before the commentators on the other thread come to educate us all about how Israel acted in self defence
Yes, they have every right to defend its citizens but the way they carried this out was absolutely disgusting.
Hamas has been poking Israel with the rocket strikes for months. I dont for one moment condone Israel's actions, but war is not about cuddly press briefings and proportionate response, its about grinding the other guy into the dust.

"Stops firing rockets at us or we are going to get a bit pissed off" should have given Hamas something to think about. Instead they racked up another payload and went for it. Now they get the reaction to that, and they must have known the civilian populatiobn had nowhere to run, or hide.
