Right, first an explanation...

Being the thoughtful and romantic (read: soft tt) that I am, I have been looking into valentine's weekend ideas for me and the new o/h.
With help from a friend of the o/h we came up with: Edinburgh > castle, dungeon, horse ride, food etc
Now, being the fking idiot that I am, I managed to copy the o/h in on the link to the horse riding place's website link, which completely blows the whole of 'Plan A' out of the water!

So what is 'Plan B'?
Do I come up with something completely different and just make sure I'm not such an idiot this time and actually keep this idea a secret?
.....But what if I come up with something and she would have actually preferred Edinburgh!?

As a rough guide 'Plan A' would have looked like costing roughly £400ish.

Your thoughts and experiences of 'Plan Bs' would be very much appreciated.

If all else fails, I suppose I could get her f' all, now that would be a surprise!?

Stick with Plan A. Knowing about it in advance is a whole lot better than if you go for something else and she was expecting A.

First I hope you have called yourself every sort of tosser under the sun for this elementary mistake.

Best thing is to continue your errors with links to skydiving/driving days/wine tasting etc.

I took the g/f to Paris as a surprise but sick in bed, tired, and with the flu a few weeks before I slipped up. after that I kept on 'slipping up' but changed the location so many times that she only twiged where we were going once we actually got on the train.

Or Eurostar to Brussels, local train to Bruges, do the beer/boat tour/horse drawn trap/Chocolates(tends to go down well with gurlies)/old buildings tour there.

Fewer hills than in Edinburgh as well, and everybody speaks English.

I would have preferred to do it but she 'loves surprises.' How the feck do you tell a woman to pack for a night at the Opera without telling her where she is going, or even in what country!!!

If you can even find a seat on a Eurostar within 5 days either side of Valentine's Day now, you'll be looking at multiplying your budget by 2.5

OK, so she knows about plan A. I would therefore ask her about it. No point pretending it didnt happen, but you can get lots of brownie points by saying:

"I did this for you"
"It was going to be a nice surprise...but now that you know, would you want to go for somehting equally exciting as a surprise, or stay with this and we can do some research on the internet to really make a weekend of it..."

I think that the horse riding is the best and only hint you could drop, it means she can pack suitable clothes and footware, and she will enjoy it more as she is comfortable!!

Might have been, then again if she was expecting A then anything else should be less of a shock
