St Lucia for the student.

My daughter is off to St Lucia in September for a month or two doing her uni elective. Can anyone give me a heads up on what the place is like. Starting with safety for the student and types of places to stay etc. She'll be based at Victoria hospital in Castries so will be looking for local accommodation.
Any help appreciated.
