zeppelin out - what other docks?
Discussion
I want a B&W Zeppelin, and i will own one. At the moment though i just can't justify the cost.
I've been looking at various other alternatives, and one that hit me out of the blue was a Lars and Ivan unit.
Specifically a: Lars & Ivan GDI-PA40T1W Hybrid.
Nowhere around here stocks them so i would be interested to know what you think as i would have to travel to hear one.
Please do not suggest or recommend the Bose unit as i used to have one and it wasn't worth it. I am more interested in clarity than absolute raw power.
Still really, really want the zeppelin, but feel £400 is just a bit too much..

if you can do without it being a one piece. Fatman plus Q acoustics 1010i or Tannoy f1. Or maybe something like this http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.c... with the same speakers?
I have just bought a Klipsch i groove (Got it for £55 from Amazon) and it is excellent. I listened to the B&W Zeppelin and the Bose in John Lewis and the Klipsch is just as good. I have a B&O system with an ipod connected to it and the Klipsch for £55 sounds just as good as that at medium volumes.

that onkyo one looks like a bargain - and it's an onkyo i'm going with for tv/dvd/surround sound so would be nice to keep the themeFATMAN VALVE AMP - DISCOUNTED
And get some reasonable speakers, then Bob's yer uncle.
You mentioned an Onkyo surround sound system... Has it got the Onkyo RI dock facility? If so, maybe worth considering an Onkyo iPod dock for it?

Hi there
I had a "proper" hi-fi system (Arcam) but wanted to go over to ipod based, and make iTunes my music database. However, was s**t scared of losing the quality my hi-fi gave me through my large floor-standing speakers. There is no way a Zeppelin or other of the smaller units would ever fit the bill.Looked at them all and none came up to the mark.
Eventually bought a Fatman 452 valve amp and ipod dock. This gives me the ipod flexibility and also let me keep the quality of the large speakers.

cheers, but the zeppelin is out of budget more than anything.. so a fatman 452 will definitely not work. I know they do other stuff, but i'm not so keen.Had looked at the Vita G4, but can't get it cheap enough
